Tin Can Boat Works restores and rebuilds small aluminum jon boats, V-hulls, pontoons and personal watercraft with one purpose in mind — getting them back on the water and ready to fish.We don’t just make old boats look new. We rebuild
Some of the best fishing boats don’t start out new.
Tin Can Boat Works takes proven aluminum hulls and tired small boats and rebuilds them into practical, purpose-driven fishing rigs. Each project starts with evaluating what we have, what the boat needs and how it can be made more useful on the water.
From hull and transom repairs to flooring, electrical systems, storage, seating and fishing-specific layouts, our goal isn’t to turn a small boat into something it isn’t.
It’s to make a good small boat fish better.

Flat-bottom aluminum boats make excellent fishing platforms when they're set up properly. We restore and convert jon boats with practical layouts designed around stability, storage and fishability.

Small aluminum V-hulls offer versatility for anglers fishing larger lakes and changing conditions. Tin Can builds preserve that versatility while improving the boat's fishing capability.

Older pontoons can make surprisingly capable fishing platforms. Selected pontoon projects can be rebuilt around comfortable, practical fishing rather than cruising.

Personal watercraft can become compact fishing machines. Our PWC projects focus on practical storage, rod management and fishing-specific accessories without unnecessarily complicating the craft.
Every layout starts with how the boat will actually be used on the water.
Storage, seating, electrical systems and accessories are chosen because they serve a purpose — not simply because they look good in a photo.
Tin Can specializes in the boats many anglers actually own and fish: compact, affordable and capable aluminum fishing rigs.
Tin Can projects are photographed and documented throughout the rebuild so the story doesn't disappear when the project is finished.
Whether you’re buying an older aluminum boat, planning your own restoration or trying to get more out of the boat you already own, the Tin Can Boat Guide is built around practical small-boat information.
We cover aluminum boat restoration, jon boat setups, V-hulls, fishing conversions, electrical systems, flooring, storage, buying used boats and the lessons we learn along the way.
